Yesterday was the day I met Julio. It happened as I was putting my camera away after shooting video for The Bridge, which acquires old properties and turns them into "eco villages" in the inner city. The properties are intended to be totally sustainable and self-contained mixed-use “Eco-Villages” with housing, commercial/retail space, co-working, urban agriculture, innovation/education centers and entertainment. My friend and COO of The Bridge, Corey Dupree, says this about the man I met. "Julio is a houseless gentleman originally from Puerto Rico who spends his spare time assisting the team with on site needs. There is a language barrier as he doesn’t speak English, which goes deeper since he was not taught to read in school growing up. As an initial “Thank You”, we have provided him so far with some winter clothing, monetary donations, and will be connecting him with individuals and organizations who can provide local resources via a translator. He knows he has a home at The Bridge. We couldn't ask for a more passionate and enthusiastic individual to come into our day to day operations. He's helping me knock the rust off of my Spanish as well! As we come across more "Julio's", there are no limits to how many Bridges can be built."
